High-Resolution Power Consumption Traces ======================================== tracebase.org, TU Darmstadt, 2012 ======== Remark ======== The archives in this directory are password protected. Please visit http://www.tracebase.org for a detailed description of the collection setup, a list of related scientific publications and to request the password for the ZIP archives. ======== Overview ======== This directory contains power traces of a range of electric appliances. The traces collected combined into ZIP archives, named according to their generation process. All traces are in CSV format, adhering to the following field layout: time-and-date ; 1-second-average-wattage ; 8-second-average-wattage The time-and-date field follows the "day/month/year hour:minute:second" format, in which the time is specified using a 24-hour notation. Complete traces: -------------------- The "complete" archive contains traces which were recorded over a period of 24 hours. Each traces starts at midnight and ends at midnight the next day. The smart meter was not disconnected during this period even if the device was switched off. Incomplete traces: -------------------- This archive contains traces with measurement intervals missing from the recorded data. This is mostly due to problems with the collection setup and/or the wireless transmission of the meter readings. This data was not padded with zero readings when data is missing. For a padded version please see the "synthetic traces" section. Synthetic traces: -------------------- The "synthetic" archive contains trace fragments of real appliances, which have been padded with zero consumption readings. The traces have been collected as follows: An appliance, e.g., a vacuum cleaner, has been connected to the metering device at some point during the day (the usage time reflects the time during which the user wanted to use the vacuum cleaner) and was operated as usual. After it had been used, it was disconnected from the metering device. The resulting CSV file was thus composed of an incomplete daily trace, lacking both the periods before and after the usage of the appliance. These missing timeframes were artificially padded with zero consumption readings in order to attain a complete daily trace. ======= Details ======= Continuous updates: -------------------- Please regard the timestamps of the ZIP archives when downloading them for the use in evaluations, as we will continually add further data to the dataset when they become available. Sampling interval: -------------------- The trace collection script has been configured to collect one sample per meter per second. However, depending on the topology of the data collection network and the encountered delays, traces may also show several records for the same time or only report readings after several seconds each.
